Bounheuang was born in Laos and raised in France where she completed her academic education at The Sorbonne, University of Toulouse/ UC Berkeley, Bounheuang [boo-nyan] graduated with a Masters in Literature, hold a Marketing degree and is a State Certified Contemporary Dance Teacher from France with martial arts (Shaolin Kungfu, Tai Chi, Chi Qong) background.
Prior to her moving to Davis, California, in 2005, she was teaching in France contemporary dance/contact/improvisation from beginner to advanced level and was performing for teachers-choreographers Vendetta Mathea (la-manufacture.com), Sophie Poupin, Madelyne Reant and has been taking movement/dance masterclasses/workshops or classes since 2000 (with Elsa Wolliaston, Merce Cunningham, Christian Canciani... and most recently with Eric Kupers, Hilary Brian, Keith Hennessy, Randee Pauvfe, Paul Taylor, Sankai Juku...). She has complementary training or interest in contact-improvisation, modern/lyrical jazz, African, butoh, hip-hop, flamenco, somatics education (Laban-Bartenieff fundamentals, body-mind centering, Feldenkrais, Alexander...)
