In the dream-like Café Lorraine, abstract imagery opens doors to new perceptions of human interactions in a collage of movement, text and video vignettes, which come together to expose the inner landscapes of need, control and the desire to be needed. Café Lorraine combines video and projections by filmmaker Brandon Van Meter, text by fiction writer Doug Rice and original music by composer Christian Cherry as well as a variety of additional music ranging from Bjork and Amalia Rodriguez to the Mexican Institute of Sound. The multi-ethnic cast demonstrates strength and vulnerability through quick glimpses of diverse emotional states- raw sensuality, both visceral and joyfully kinetic, collide through tangible partnering and spontaneous physicality. |
